A true story about fear, walking anyway, and finding the path

There was a time I kept waiting.

Waiting for the fear to ease. Waiting for the sign that it was time. Waiting for the perfect moment, the confidence, the clarity—the certainty.

I thought that’s what smart people did. They waited until everything made sense. Until they had all the answers. Until the plan was airtight.

But the truth? That waiting cost me years of my life.

I remember one morning—early in my leadership journey—sitting in front of my laptop, staring at a proposal I didn’t feel ready to send. My hands were sweating. My heart was racing. And a little voice in my head whispered, “What if they say no? What if you’re not good enough? What if this isn’t the right time?”

I didn’t feel ready. I felt small. And unsure. But then something in me—the deeper part—said:

Send it anyway.

So I did.

And that tiny act of courage? It changed everything.

They said yes.

It wasn’t just a ‘yes’ to the proposal. It was a ‘yes’ to me. A ‘yes’ to the woman I was becoming. A ‘yes’ to the path I couldn’t yet see—but was already walking.

I’ve learned this lesson over and over again:

Clarity doesn’t come before action. It comes from action.

Not from overthinking. Not from obsessing over the right moment. Not from sitting still, hoping the fear will pass.

You don’t get the map before you move. You get the map while you walk.

Just like Rumi said:

“As you start to walk on the way, the way appears.”

Every bold step I’ve taken—from launching my business, to standing on stages, to leaving relationships that no longer aligned—was never backed by certainty.

It was backed by a whisper of maybe, a flicker of courage, and the decision to trust that even if I couldn’t see the whole path, I could take the next step.

And that’s the part we forget.

We think we need a five-year plan. We think we need to be “ready.” But what we need is to start.

The leaders I admire most? They didn’t wait to be fearless. They moved with the fear—and found their strength along the way.

And that woman you’re dreaming of becoming?

She’s not waiting at the end of the journey.

She’s built with every brave thing you do right now.

So if you’re standing on the edge—wondering if you’re ready—let me tell you:

💬 You don’t need all the answers. 💬 You don’t need to feel 100% sure. 💬 You don’t need anyone else’s permission.

You just need one step. Then another. Then another.

📚 Read the book.

📞 Make the call.

💬 Ask the question.

✍️ Write the words.

🚪 Walk through the door.

🧠 Say yes to yourself.

You’ll figure it out along the way. You’ll grow into her. The way will appear—but only if you start walking.

Trust me. I’ve been there.

And the moment you choose to act before you feel ready?

That’s when you’ll finally meet the future you.
